Canon Communications and PAC–The Packaging Association
Sign Cooperation Agreement for PACKEX Shows
Association will develop and manage conferences in 2011 and 2013
Los Angeles, CA (December 16, 2009) – Canon Communications has entered into a cooperation agreement with PAC–The Packaging Association (PAC) in support of the 2011 and 2013 editions of the company’s biennial PACKEX show in Toronto. A key provision of the agreement calls for the association to develop and produce the shows’ conference programs. PAC members qualify for a premium discount on PACKEX exhibition space and eligible for a select group of related Canon products.
Two months ago, Canon acquired both PACKEX from PAC and France’s COMEXPOSIUM group, and the Plast-Ex and EXPOPLAST shows from the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA). The company will co-locate Plast-Ex and PACKEX June 21-23, 2011 as the core of an advanced manufacturing event in Toronto that also contains automation, process technology, design & manufacturing and green manufacturing expositions.
“We are looking forward to working closely with Canon in developing a larger and even more successful PACKEX in the new co–location format that is planned,” said PAC President & CEO James Downham. “PAC founded, owned, and supported the show for more than 50 years, and it is of great value to all of our members and the packaging community at-large. We are excited to assist Canon to take the show to the next level.”
PAC is a not-for-profit membership association which for over 60 years has brought together the design, supply, and use sectors of the industry. Its membership includes some of the most recognized global names from retailers, consumer packaged goods producers, package converters, raw materials, graphic design and pre-press, machinery & equipment and academic institutions and students.
“PACKEX provides an ideal anchor for our co-location strategy in Canada,” said Canon’s CEO Charles McCurdy. “We are really looking forward with PAC in producing a show that serves such a key component of Canada’s advanced manufacturing sector.”
